Dear FSC Parents,
The Scholarship Committee will be making financial aid awards again this year based on the amount of monies raised by the "Virgin-MacLeod" golf tournament. The intent of the scholarship fund is to assist athletes who otherwise may not be able to participate in alpine ski racing. Last year we awarded approximately $9,000 in scholarships and grants.
Our goal this year is to award several financial aid packages, 5 full scholarships and a scholarship award for a local graduating senior:
Financial aid packages: FSC understands that every not every family can afford the cost of ski racing. Therefore, the Club offers financial aid packages for qualified families. The candidate must demonstrate strong motivation and thoughtful character for skiing and ski racing.
Ross Coffin Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a local child in honor of Ross Coffin, a committed and generous member of the Franconia community as well as the ski racing world. This individual must show sincere passion and meaningful dedication to skiing and ski racing.
Calling All Skiers Scholarships: In a sincere effort to provide an opportunity and exposure to skiing and ski racing, FSC offers four local children’s scholarships (2 male and 2 females, grades 2 through 6). Working in conjunction with the local school system, a written essay contest determines the awarded candidates.
Graduating senior award: This award is given to a local senior, who demonstrates a steadfast work ethic towards academia, community and the passion for ski racing. The scholarship is awarded after this individual has completed his/her first semester of college.
Financial aid and scholarship requests must be submitted with a complete Financial Aid Application and Definitive Needs Form and a copy of your 2017 IRS 1040 Form pages 1 & 2. All information will be kept strictly confidential and seen only by the Committee. The deadline for applications is August 22nd. The Committee will meet in late August to consider all applications and make awards. Please submit your application to the FSC Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 462, Franconia, NH 03580.
The deadline for training fees is automatically extended for those families applying for scholarships. Once you have been contacted by the committee, we expect your prompt attention to any remaining training fees you are expected to pay.
The Scholarship Committee will notify all applicants of awards granted by the end of August. Remember, you must also complete the Family Membership Form and Training Registration Form by August 22nd. Payment in full is required with the Family Membership Form ($150) and 20% payment per child with the Training Registration Form.
